“Restoring the Temple”

Welcome to the course! I would like to open with a summary of the nature and purpose of this course, since it is an experience based course as well as a study course. Following that is an introduction to the materials you will be studying.

This course is designed to take you through, step by step, all the aspirations of the heart that Jeshua discussed in “The Keys of Jeshua.” As a way of making that pathway more physical and more linked to our heart and body wisdom, we will also be using the Sacred Touch essential oil set.

There is a great deal of information to share with you about the power of anointing oils, and even more wonderful information about the Sacred Heart. So, let’s get started!

Here is the protocol for your course:

Your Webinar will include 8 recorded conference calls, which are the hub of your course. Within these calls you will find references to charts that are included with your course in the “Tools” section. As you come to the place in each recording where one of these charts is part of the teaching, just click open the corresponding file. Also posted in the “Tools” section are 5 “Articles” about various aspects of your Sacred Center and essential oils, which you may read along with the more dynamic part of your course. These are additional support information, but highly recommended.

This course is meant to be primarily experiential and personal as you go through the steps of personal healing and realization. The most substantial guidance material from me will be found in the recorded conference calls. Be sure to listen to the first audio recording as soon as you complete this introduction. Then allow each subsequent audio presentation to lead you to the next application.

In addition to all the priceless information this is also a skillfully planned program to take you through each aspiration, using the corresponding essential oil blends, for at least one completely dedicated week at a time (eight altogether, including one week for Christ Scent). The seven Aspirations are detailed for you in corresponding text documents named by each Aspiration. Please open these text documents as you come to the Aspiration in the audio conferences.

Each lesson is created to build on the one before, especially with regard to the practical applications. So give yourself some time each day to really “take the course” and avail yourself of this opportunity to have a new means of personal growth. One big advantage you have over those who took the course live is that you may progress at your own pace. In the live course, we limited the experience to only one week per aspiration and fragrance. You will have a sense for when it is complete for you, mainly by the tranquility you feel and the cessation of issues that may have come up. There will also be epiphanies that mark highlights and transitions in your course as well.

You will learn how to use Sacred Touch essential oils for toning, inspiring, and aligning all parts of our body and being for the life you were created to live.

For this course I have gathered and summarized all the information given by Jeshua about the eight Sacred Touch essential oil blends for which he gave me the formulas. The five “Articles” will also cover the larger subject of spiritual healing in Love Without End, and the particulars of the subject in my other book “Anointed With Oil”.

However, the greater reason for this course is to move beyond the intellectual aspects of the subject and learn how to apply it for personal well-being. With each lesson there will be practical recommendations that will give you some opportunities to apply what you are learning and then progress toward the next lesson.

You will learn about the ancient art of anointing, and how to use Sacred Touch essential oils to strengthen the aspirations you have for a better year and a better life. In this you will bring your body and senses into full alignment with your soul’s purpose. The subject of anointing with sacred oil is a very ancient one, and a potent subject worthy of learning in its own right. The use of essential oils for therapeutic healing is also important and has its own traditions although not as ancient as the sacred traditions. The purpose of this course is to EMPOWER YOU TO UNDERSTAND God’s gift of love within the life energy of plants. And to further empower you to use this knowledge to restore your own spiritual essence.

As you restore the temple of your being, you will become fully lucid about the Sacred Heart and how to use all of its sensitivity and intelligence to restore and rejuvenate your life. This course will refer to all the information Jeshua has shared with me about that subject, including scriptural references to it.

Introduction

Fragrance and our sense of smell hold a unique place within our consciousness. Smell is our oldest, most primitive sense, in that it is directly received into the oldest part of our brain and the autonomic nervous system, so that smell can stimulate an immediate survival response. Of all our senses, smell is the most intimately associated with our emotions and feelings, and therefore it is indelibly entwined with our entire emotional history. In many therapeutic healing sessions, practitioners have reported the patient to remember a smell associated with the trauma being addressed, and upon full recognition of it, the injury was gone. At the same time, smell is the one sense most reported and associated with miracles. Many who have experienced a miraculous healing have reported a strong fragrance of roses, even though no roses were present.

Could it be that through aroma, we may have a valuable key that unlocks the door to higher sunlit palaces of Paradise and also the key to prisons that hold our forgotten trauma? Indeed, in my experience, aromas provide a golden thread that weaves its way through our physical body as we normally know it, into a larger emotional matrix that connects, supports, and directs our physical behavior, past that into an even larger metaphysical body which serves as a direct link between body and soul. In this, I am assured that our body is in our soul and not the other way around. Our body is gradiently linked to our soul much as material objects represent gradient degrees of compressed or condensed light, ever progressing from the infinite to the manifest…and back again to the infinite.

It was within such a state of connection between the infinite and the finite, that I first realized the powerful connection that aroma can provide for uniting the higher dimensions of our being with the physical one on which we all too often fix our attention. When Jeshua was with me in 1992, his presence always brought forth an incomparably beautiful fragrance. Though my studio was surely filled with the smell of turpentine and oil paint, I could smell nothing but the extraordinary fragrance that he brought with him every day. It filled my senses, enlivened my being, opened my heart, and illumined my soul. After he left, I could still remember the rare perfume as if it hovered around me.

Fifteen years ago I had no familiarity with essential oils, and so my first move was to contact people who did. It did not take me long to realize that it would be pointless to engage the exceptional skill and talent of others, if I did not know the basics of fragrance. I would not be able to describe the aroma I hoped to create. Thus my education began. That was followed by experience, intuitive exploration, and creative experimentation. There was also the intimidating reality of markets, sources, and world supply. Much like fine wine, essential oils are only as good as the source plant and the processes by which they are refined. Now compound that with the fact that there are “vintage years,” ideal climates and growing fields…preferably wild.

The driving force always was to recreate the Divine fragrance that filled my days, my dreams, and my waking consciousness while Jeshua and I were together. That was the simplicity of my goal, but what a gift it would be to others. Try though I did, I could not replicate it—even with the help of talented aromacologists. I realized that I would only be able to replicate the fragrance by restoring within myself the essence of that original miraculous experience and then expressing it through the discovery of fragrances. So, for the next ten years, I cultivated my memories of that event and formed them into a pattern of continuing growth as I wrote the messages, and taught them. While I was reassembling my own inner consciousness, I continued to study the arts and science of aroma. Fortunately I was blessed with good teachers, a good nose, and I learned quickly.

Preparation for the revelation was, however, long and complex. My years of devotion to painting and other art forms led me to expect and cultivate the layers of insight and discernment that would be necessary to refine my perceptions and expressions and shape them into subtle and powerful communications. My years on the vineyard gave me insight and experience with the richness of nature’s fruits and the mastery necessary to evaluate and combine them into the most wonderful juices and wines. Slowly I grew into my newest expression of art under Divine guidance, love and respect for the gifts of nature, study of plant essences, support from others who respected my devotion, and perhaps a bit of instinctive ability.

It didn’t take me long to surmise that Frankincense and Myrrh would be two of the ingredients in the aroma of Christ’s presence. The question, however, was which Frankincense and which Myrrh. I had more than a hundred samples of each to examine and no two were alike. In combination, the possibilities were multiplied. This is the point where I would have wilted had there not been a true calling for me to proceed. The “whole” of the fragrance I sought was so much more that the sum of its parts, it could not be captured by estimating and predicting the “parts” that would combine to make it. This was my first realization of why certain blends were held to be sacred, and why the priests of old were also alchemists and perfumers of the first order. They had the ability to sense and envision the perfect fragrance first as a creation of God and then allow that perfect fragrance to instruct their intuitive consciousness as to the right formula for its making on earth. That perfect fragrance to them was the breath of God.

To some degree all great art follows that path. It begins with an idea or a vision, and then unfolds through complete surrender to intuitive expression, exploration, and creation. With Sacred Oils, God was held to be the formulator and artist. How true that is, for without the life force essential oils convey, the resulting fragrances would only be for adornment and luxury. Without a higher guidance to formulate the blends, they would never arrive at their consummate clarity and beauty.

Ten years later after much learning, trial, and error, I was ready to receive his instructions, and the formula came into being. That fragrance is what is known today as ‘ChristScent’. Shortly thereafter Jeshua and I began working on the next major book, ‘The Keys of Jeshua’, and the teachings in that book were all centered on the idea of a larger temple of the soul, in which love commands, and through which a greater life can unfold. His unique way of instructing me about the pillars of the Temple was by presenting a unique aroma for each one. On Nov. 23rd 2001, the tenth anniversary of his first appearance to me, he revealed the formulas for all of the eight original Sacred Oil fragrances—his celebration of the past and invocation for the future.

According to the new covenants established by Jeshua, we are our own priests and priests to one another. Therefore, we are all entitled to use anointing oils on ourselves and to administer them appropriately to others. We are all ordained by God for this. Not only are we all endowed with the spiritual and temporal duties of ministering to ourselves and others, but we also have responsibility for our own wellness through right living and right thinking. The primary and most important temple in which each of us must worship and find God is the temple of our own soul. It is in that temple, and no other, that we must ultimately find union with our Creator. “Ye are the temple of the living God.” (II Corinthians 6:16)

While I will write much more extensively about the history and nature of Sacred Oil blends in a later lesson, I would like to introduce in your first lesson a powerful spiritual teaching that Jeshua offers in The Keys of Jeshua. I would like for you to have and use this knowledge as you progress through this course, and to have a way of directly correlating it to the aromas we will be discussing as well as natural aromas from your environment that you would like to uniquely associate with these higher states of awareness.

Jesus brought into consciousness and practice a revolutionary new idea…of a temple that could not be destroyed once it was fully established. This was the idea of individual atonement and spiritual fulfillment. He honored the idea of a sacred place, or temple, but for him the fundamental prototype of every temple was the Sacred Heart, a place central to every human body, mind, and soul where one’s connection to God is everlasting. With this profound invitation to humanity to return to its original connection with the Creator’s a new covenant was established. That new covenant was for the rebuilding of the most ancient of all temples…the one within, where in true sanctuary man could be in a complete state of love with God and love of others as himself.

In his words to me, the pillars of the temple are innocence, compassion, abundance, wisdom, peace, forgiveness, joy, and the Light of Christ. Compassion is not love because of something. It is love beyond all things. Forgiveness is not to “get” something, but rather to release something—most especially your fear and judgments. Innocence is not because you have never “erred,” but because an inner core of goodness allows you to know when you have. Peace is not when you successfully bring order to the world, but when you bring order to yourself. Unlike happiness that is bound to pleasure and needs for positive reward, joy is the soul’s exhalation regardless of circumstances. Joy is when the soul celebrates being not of the world yet a blessing to it. Abundance is not the prosperity of material acquisition, but the realization of infinite supply that requires no attitudes of scarcity, hoarding, or greed. When all of these states of being are focused into complete acceptance and knowing, there is wisdom. When all of these states of being are focused into active service for living, the energy and light of Christ shine forth through and from the Temple.

An interesting characteristic of the temple is the natural rapport that exists between it and the soul and also between it and the body. The human condition and all of its emotions, mental states, and agendas seem to be the real source of disassociation we feel about the Temple. His teaching, of course, is a trigger point for memories of the soul. And now he has given a rare and subtle gift to assist in the body’s remembrance.

From the Beginning

Even though we will touch upon knowledge so profound that in the ancient world it was only given to high priests, I want to affirm that the gift of healing from the plant kingdom is a gift given freely to man from God and nature. It is already part of your life, and you have experienced it in many delightful ways. The simplicity of it is your connection with the plant kingdom and the vital forces it offers to your life.

Plants are critically important to life on earth. They are the foundation on which your physical life stands. They are the chemical factories that interface between light and dark, sun and earth, drawing energy from each and synthesizing it all into molecules of carbohydrates, proteins, and fats that support all other organic life. These are the “crude fuels” which all animals and humans break down to produce ATP (adenosine triphosphate), our high-grade fuel. More than that, these are ‘factories’ of life and vital energy that supports all organic life on earth.

Essential oils are the high-grade fuel of plants which make this gift possible. When we bring their pure essence into our lives we acquire the ultimate goodness plants have to offer–in many ways, the fountain of life. I believe this was the understanding that the ancient high priests and perfumers celebrated as they took great care to extract and prepare oils worthy of anointing in the name of Spirit. Whether we anoint with reverence or merely use essential oils in our daily lives, one of their most important healing powers is to lift our bodily frequencies to levels where disease and unhappiness cannot exist. In the end, wholeness is the secret to health. As part of a daily regimen of prayer and meditation, essential oil is unsurpassable for invoking a sense of wholeness that is perceivable to body, mind, and spirit.

Their value is not merely for their aromas, as we will discuss in our next lesson. Most essential oils are microbial to some extent. One of their main functions in their mother plant is to heal all wounds and defeat invasion. They are the world’s most powerful anti-oxidants. There is an ‘essence’, if you will, to the vital force of plants that allows for the protection of life, and the restoration of its vitality when depleted or damaged. This is perhaps the most extraordinary gift of plants. So extraordinary is it that it touches on all levels of our being.

Countless memories and rich sensations of being alive are indelibly connected with our recollections of smell. How many times before sipping fresh squeezed orange juice have you paused to inhale the fragrance and felt a surge of nourishment before it even touched your lips? How often have you been cheered by the smell of fresh baked cookies and felt satisfied without ever consuming a calorie? I still remember from my childhood, the fondest memories related to smell: car trips from my hometown into Fort Worth were always enlivened by passing Mrs. Beard’s Bakery! Trips to my uncle’s ranch were rich with scents from fresh baled hay to barnyard aromas, which were not altogether offensive because I associated them with the happy events of gathering eggs and riding horses. To this day, those scents make me happy!

Remembrance of such experiences provides the basic understanding and power behind why aroma therapy is so effective and Sacred Oil blends have such power upon our consciousness.

Aromas can have a powerful effect on all levels of your being: body, mind, emotions, and spirit. A vital, living fragrance can directly affect everything about you, from how you feel, to your motivation for living, to your actual lifespan. When you breathe a vital aroma into the back passages of your nose, it goes straight to the brain in a central part called the “amygdala”. This is the central headquarters of the limbic system, which manages your storage and filing system for all emotional experiences. That part of the brain does not understand words or even thoughts formed with words. Its most direct response is to smell. Therefore, aroma provides a powerful means to contact the non-verbal portion of our brains that stores our feelings and emotions. Thus, there is the legendary connection between emotion and aroma. Because the limbic system is directly connected to those parts of the brain that control heart rate, blood pressure, breathing, memory, stress levels, and hormone balance aroma can have profound physiological and psychological effects.

The sense of smell is the only one of the five senses directly linked to the limbic lobe of the brain, the emotional control center. Anxiety, depression, fear, anger, and joy all emanate from this region. The scent of a special fragrance can evoke memories and emotions before we are even consciously aware of it. Where smells are concerned, we react first and think later. All other senses (touch, taste, hearing, and sight) are routed through the thalamus, which acts as the switchboard for the brain, passing stimuli onto the cerebral cortex (the conscious thought center) and other parts of the brain. Therefore, all our other senses are to some degree ‘filtered’ by the various conditions of ‘conscious allowance’.

The limbic lobe (a group of brain structures that includes the hippocampus and amygdala located below the cerebral cortex) can also directly activate a part of the brain called the hypothalamus. The hypothalamus is one of the most important parts of the brain, acting as our hormonal control center. It releases chemical messengers that can affect everything from sex drive to energy levels. The production of growth hormones, sex hormones, thyroid hormones, and neurotransmitters such as serotonin are all governed by the hypothalamus. Thus, the hypothalamus is referred to as the “master gland.”

Essential oils-through their fragrance and unique molecular structure-can directly stimulate the limbic lobe and the hypothalamus. Not only can the inhalation of essential oils be used to combat stress and emotional trauma, but it can also stimulate the production of hormones from the hypothalamus. This results in increased thyroid hormones (our energy hormone) and growth hormones (our youth and longevity hormone).

Essential oils may also be used to reduce appetite and produce significant reductions in weight because of their ability to stimulate the ventro-medial nucleus of the hypothalamus, a section of the brain that governs our feeling of satiety or fullness following meals. In a large clinical study, Dr. Alan Hirsch MD used fragrances, including peppermint, to trigger significant weight losses in a large group of patients who had previously been unsuccessful in any type of weight-management program. During the course of the six-month study involving over 3 000 people, the average weight loss exceeded 30 pounds. According to Dr. Hirsch, some patients actually had to be dropped from the study to avoid becoming underweight.

There is an important factor that correlates aroma with our health and happiness. In 1989 Dr. Joseph Ledoux at New York Medical University discovered that the amygdala plays a major role in storing and releasing emotional trauma. Central to this is a staggering discovery of neurobiology: Although the center of the brain is the coordinator of emotional memories, the memories are not actually stored there! That part of the brain performs the functions of a librarian who catalogues all the emotional memory books and then assigns a location on the shelves of the bodily temple to hold the information for future reference. When we have an emotional experience, which is too overwhelming or traumatic to assimilate in present time, the body will assign a part of your body to remember that experience until you are ready to deal with it consciously.

The body is composed of over 100 trillion cells each with a strand of DNA capable of storing up to six gigabytes of memory. The emotional brain can delegate any place in your body to store a feeling or an emotional memory. You will never run out of memory storage space. What you carry in your body is greater than the combined memories of all the computers in the world. You and every other human being have this amazing capacity.

Stored emotions can make us sick. If they are stored in the stomach, you can have stomach ailments. If in the pancreas, then you can have diabetes, and so forth.

When an essential oil penetrates into the central brain, it makes it possible for us to access forgotten memories of emotion with which we need to deal. Often it triggers an emotion that corresponds to the memory stored in an area of disease or distress.

We will discuss the subject of remedies and suggestions for how to access these areas of duress in a later lesson. Even as we begin, however, I want to impress upon you the power of even the subtlest aroma and how it can affect your state of consciousness. Surely, there is not one of us who has not strolled into the woods, meadows, or a back yard garden to become awash with nature’s perfume. It could have been the captivating fragrance of Jasmine or honeysuckle that lured you to follow its path, the fresh smell of grass that gladdened your heart, or the refreshing aroma of Pine, Spruce, or Juniper that caused you to relax and linger. We are anointed by God and life whenever we immerse ourselves in the natural world. In such moments, we are included in nature’s vital network of communication to be made more whole and more united with all of life. These marvelous refreshing experiences are facilitated by plants as they broadcast their living essential oils. It is their way of communicating between themselves, the animal kingdom, and people.

In our first conference call session we will take our first step to restoring the temple
and begin the journey of mastering the “Aspirations.”
