The sweet orange tree (Citrus sinensis) is thought to have originated from the southwest China-Burma border, but is now grown throughout the world. Orange Sweet essential oil is expressed (or sometimes steam-distilled) from the peel of the nearly ripe fruit. Approximately 50 oranges produce 1 oz of orange essential oil.

Sweet Orange is known as the ‘smiley oil’ and is used to create feelings of happiness and warmth. It is a mentally and physically uplifting oil that is helpful for overwork and lifestyle pressure.  Orange essential oil is beneficial for the immune system, for settling digestive upsets and also has an affinity with the respiratory system.

Safety Note:   Non toxic. Spot test first on sensitive skin. Do not apply to skin before exposure to prolonged sunlight.

Skin: Orange essential oil is a good general skin tonic and can help detoxify congested skin. It is particularly beneficial for acne, older, mature skin, dry irritated skin and dermatitis.

Mind: Orange essential oil is a cheery and uplifting oil and can be beneficial for anxiety, stress and insomnia. It is gentle enough to use on children and can help them get to sleep at night.

Body: Orange essential oil is beneficial for the immune system, can help with colds and flu and can help eliminate toxins from the body. It is also a digestive stimulant and mild antispasmodic and can therefore be helpful for digestive problems and cramps.
